*Typically only for intermediate or advanced students or for homeschoolers who require more music theory and written work for course/syllabus purposes.
Tuition is the same whether there are 4 or 5 weekly lessons in a month. This breaks down to $25 for a 30 minute lesson, with the 5th week (when it occurs in certain months) free.
There is a 10% discount on total tuition when two or more students in the same family (parents/siblings) take lessons. (For example, two students taking 30-minute lessons would normally pay total tuition of $200 per month, but with the family discount the tuition would be $180 per month.)
All tuition is for one-on-one lessons, not group classes.
Lesson Policies Here is some basic information on my policies. For more detailed information, please email me for a copy of the full contract.
Tuition is due monthly, in advance (or at the first lesson for new students). Tuition can be paid in cash or by check.
Tuition is the same whether there are 4 or 5 weekly lessons in a month.
If a student gives at least 24 hour notice of need to cancel a lesson, one make-up lesson per month is offered as a courtesy (subject to teacher's availability).
If the teacher ever needs to cancel a lesson, there will be no loss to the student. If the student cannot agree to meet at any of the offered make-up lesson times, the prorated amount for the missed lesson will be credited to the next month's tuition. (This is the only case in which there will be credits/refunds of tuition.)
If a student is a no-show for a lesson (exceptions made for emergencies), they will be dismissed from lessons.
Students are encouraged to arrive a few minutes prior to their scheduled lesson time to ensure that they are ready and no lesson time is missed. If a student is tardy, they will only have the time remaining in the scheduled lesson.
Parents (or other guardian) of students are encouraged to be present for each lesson (required if child is under age 12).
Students are expected to obtain all materials (instrument, accessories, music, etc.) and bring all necessary materials to each lesson. (The teacher will provide information to each student about exact items needed, expected cost, and where to purchase.)
Students are expected to practice a minimum of 5 days per week, with the length of time varying depending on the age and level of the student (not less than 20 minutes).
